South Park Blocks

…a stretch of blocks (a dozen blocks long) right through the middle of downtown . Portland actually has two – the North Park Blocks and the South Park Blocks. Sticking closer to home, we’ve been exploring the South Park Blocks. Each of the 12 blocks has a piece of art. The South Park blocks continue on to the Portland State campus area. Facing the park are some fabulous old buildings/churches and the Portland Art Museum.
The trees are most amazing – here’s a tree map that shows how the various tree species are placed.
We visited the South Park’s Shemanski Fountain on our first park walk since moving to Portland. It has little doggie drinking fountains at the bottom. (they weren’t running when we visited). B & Scout look so comfortable…little do they know…a snow storm comes in the next day and puts about 3 inches on the ground!
